Salary: $30,000 to $42,000 per year
About Us
Roots and Wings is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s reading skills and supporting the teachers who inspire learning. We are seeking a Program Assistant to support and manage the daily operations of our programs and play a key role in ensuring organizational efficiency and program success.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Operations Support
- Coordinate logistics for Project UpLift and the Above and Beyond Awards
- Track program outcomes, gather and organize data, and assist with reporting
- Maintain communication with school personnel and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements
- Organize and maintain both digital and physical records
Financial & Data Management
- Maintain and update program funding records, including tracking of funds
- Analyze and report data with a high degree of accuracy
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all data
Software & Tools
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Calendly
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in a nonprofit setting
- Minimum 2 years of program support experience, preferably in a nonprofit or education-related organization
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, as well as attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Passion for advancing children’s literacy and celebrating educators
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with educational programs or student-focused initiatives
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Experience with small-scale event logistics
- Ability to enthusiastically represent Roots and Wings and its mission
