Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Safety and Maintenance Manager
Job Purpose
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical equipment, with a strong emphasis on pump systems. The ideal candidate is skilled in welding and cutting operations and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Expertise In
- Pump repair, rebuild, and troubleshooting (centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, etc.)
- Welding and cutting techniques (MIG, TIG, and stick welding)
- Mechanical equipment maintenance in manufacturing or industrial settings
- Preventative and corrective maintenance procedures
- Root cause analysis and safety compliance
- Reading mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild multiple types of pump systems used in sugar refining operations.
- Execute cutting and welding tasks for equipment fabrication, modification, and repair.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance logs and documentation.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform root cause analysis when required.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to reduce downtime and support operational targets.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Be available for 1st or 2nd shift assignments, with flexibility for shift changes or overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Minimum of 4+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of pump systems, including repair, rebuild, and operational troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in welding and cutting techniques, with adherence to safety protocols.
- Proven commitment to safety, workplace cleanliness, and organization.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems is an advantage.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
