DIRECTOR EVENTS AND PARTNERSHIPS

Citymeals on Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and connection for homebound older New Yorkers. Since our founding, we have delivered 70 million meals. Together, we are working to end elder hunger in New York City by 2040.

Citymeals on Wheels seeks a Director, Events and Partnership with a combination of 10 years of fundraising and events management experience to join a dynamic external affairs team. The External Affairs team is a collaborative, results-oriented and committed group and this role will significantly contribute to the team’s goal of raising funds to fuel Citymeals on Wheels’ impactful work. Events and partnerships are a critical engine for our fundraising efforts and we are looking for someone with exceptional organizational skills, who can balance multiple priorities and maintain a strong attention to detail, ensuring flawless execution and alignment with the organization’s goals.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development, the Director of Events and Partnerships will be responsible for successfully planning and executing the organization’s four signature events as well as managing several fundraising partnership campaigns that contribute more than $4.6 million to the organization’s annual budget. This position will supervise the Manager of Events and Partnerships.

Citymeals is working on a hybrid schedule. This position requires three days a week at our office in Midtown Manhattan. Days and hours may vary due to business needs. The candidate must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

RESPONSIBLIITIES

  • Plan and execute a diverse portfolio of events including four signature events -Power Lunch, Sunday Supper at Restaurant DANIEL, Chefs’ Tribute and Hamptons Bash.
  • Oversee the management and execution of key partnership campaigns including Citarella Holiday Round Up; Dineout Series; NYC Marathon and Half Marathon teams; as well as promotional campaigns with restaurant and retail partners.
  • Collaborate across departments, including corporate partnerships, major gifts, marketing, communications and programs, to ensure event content and execution aligns with organizational priorities.
  • Steward and support Event Co-Chairs and committee members; ensuring they receive excellent customer service throughout all phases of event planning.
  • Oversee logistical aspects, including venue research, vendor contracting, production coordination and event management.
  • Ensure fulfillment of event sponsorship activations, meeting sponsor commitments and maximizing brand visibility to support fundraising.
  • Develop staffing plan, lead pre-event briefings and prepare materials to ensure team alignment and readiness.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations including budget reconciliation and data analysis, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and continuously enhance the effectiveness of Citymeals events.
  • Supervise and mentor the Manager of Events and Partnerships.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10 years of fundraising and events management experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Creative, focused and entrepreneurial with the ability to execute high quality events that consistently meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully develop strong relationships with donors with the presence and personal style to represent the organization to multiple constituents.
  • Must be able to operate effectively as part of a team and independently. Enjoys collaboration and works well on cross-functional teams.
  • The ideal candidate is able to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to think and focus on both the near and long-term goals.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
  • The ideal individual adapts to change in a fast-paced work environment and deals easily with unexpected events. Comfortable with managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage and mentor staff.
  • Fluency in working with Microsoft Office as well as databases and project management software, preferably Raisers Edge NXT and Monday.com.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours, including evening, weekends and holidays, as needed.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus based on organizational and individual success.
