Director of Operations – Utility-Scale Solar Projects

We are seeking a Director of Operations –Utility-Scale Solar Projects to lead a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects from land acquisition through NTP, COD, and continuing production output. From start to finish.

This role is critical to the success of CIG’s multi-phase pipeline and will shape how we execute projects across the country. You’ll be responsible for securing sites, managing permits and interconnection, engaging stakeholders, and preparing each project for construction, financing, and beyond.

This position is designed with a clear growth path to our Vice President role. The right candidate will demonstrate strong ownership, strategic judgment, and the ability to deliver complex projects on time and on budget. As CIG scales, this role will evolve into a senior leadership position with expanded responsibilities across team building, portfolio oversight, and market expansion.

• Lead site origination, landowner engagement, and land acquisition for new utility-scale projects
• Manage permitting across jurisdictions — including zoning, environmental, and land use approvals
• Coordinate with interconnection teams and ISO/RTO stakeholders to align queue status with development timelines
• Serve as point of contact for landowners, community groups, local officials, and permitting agencies
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and milestone tracking across multiple markets
• Support offtake and finance teams with project data, technical inputs, and due diligence documentation
• Identify and mitigate development risks — from permitting delays to land/title complications
• Collaborate with legal, EPC, and capital teams to ensure smooth handoff from development to execution
• Prepare and present development updates to CIG’s senior leadership and investor partners
• Build and mentor a growing team of project developers as CIG scales

• 7–10+ years of utility-scale solar or renewable project development experience in the U.S.
• Proven track record of advancing projects from greenfield to NTP or construction
• Deep understanding of land contracts, permitting processes, environmental reviews, and grid interconnection
• Familiarity with ISO/RTOs including MISO, ERCOT, PJM, and associated interconnection procedures
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with attention to detail and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to internal and external stakeholders
• Self-directed, highly accountable, and motivated by the mission of U.S. energy independence
• Experience working in or with vertically integrated energy firms is a strong plus
