About Summit

Summit Strategies is a 13-person government affairs firm founded in 2015, with offices on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and in Portland, Oregon. The firm represents a wide range of public and private sector entities in federal and state (Oregon only) lobbying matters. While Summit Strategies does allow for some flexibility for remote work on occasion, this job is primarily in person in our Washington, D.C. office.

Summit Strategies is seeking a self-motivated senior team member to serve as Operations Director. This person will be responsible for human resources, office management, financial matters, and other matters related to the general operations of the firm. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to tackle a variety of different tasks, including:

Human Resources

· Coordinate all aspects of human resource management for the firm.

· When necessary, coordinate and lead hiring processes and on boarding of new staff.

· Coordinate with outside vendors dealing with employee benefits.

Office Management

· Works to ensure smooth operation of office activities.

· Work with landlords on lease issues and other building matters.

· Manage relationships with building managements, vendors, and clients.

Finance

· Work with teammates to coordinate client billing, payment collections, and general bookkeeping matters.

· Prepare and track annual revenue and expenses budget and assist with the preparation of future year budgets.

· Work with accountants to assist with quarterly and annual taxes.

 

Summit is a small, tight-knit, and fully integrated team, and there is opportunity for the person in this position to grow and expand their duties and responsibilities. We are looking for somebody to grow with us in this next chapter in our firm.

Qualifications

 

Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must be detail oriented, organized, and able to multi-task. Previous experience in office management, human resources, and finance are required. 3-5 years in an equivalent position is required. Willingness to assist with other tasks such as marketing, business development, occasional event planning, and graphic design are ideal. Political experience is a positive but not required. As with any small business, all Summit teammates wear many hats and must be willing to pitch in where and when needed to ensure the success of the firm. The ability to maintain the confidentiality of office work, client matters, and policies and procedures is mandatory.
